The majority of my clients fall into two categories; One, they are very personal with the main motivation being they need help to rediscover their beauty and reconnect to their bodies or two, just for the fun of it all and something epic to cross of their bucket list. Couples Boudoir Shoots are no different.

Either the couple want to regain a bit of intimacy or to be able to spend a few private and special hours in the arms of their love ones to help reconnect or its in celebration of an anniversary or they want to have a bit of fun.. Maybe they've never had a photo-shoot together before and thought it was about time.

Whatever the initial motivation; every couple i've ever photographed has said it was fun and fantastic way to spend a few interrupted hours to just be a couple again and that they both felt increased emotional and physical intimacy between them following the shoot so for me its a win win and makes a couple's Boudoir shoot a MUST DO!

The Experience

A couples shoot is essentially no different than a normal Boudoir Shoot. We will still meet up for initial consultation so i can get to know you both, we can discuss any ideas, comfort levels, inside jokes, hobbies etc Like with all my shoots, i want to have some personality in your final selection.

Here are some tips to help you make the most of your couples boudoir session:

Communication is Key : Before you even meet with me prioritize open and honest communication with your partner, discuss what parts of your relationship you are happy to share with your photographer. For example you may enjoy a little BDSM in the privacy of your own home but you may not be comfortable for this to form elements of your shoot. That private joke? You may want that to stay private! Its important to check and double check you are on the same page with your partner in terms of your comfort levels. Have you discussed your comfort levels with nudity? Are you aligned on this? We will discuss all of this at our meeting but make sure you are both of the same page to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience.

Share your vision: I will set you guys a little homework task to do together, to check that your ideas aligned with me, your photographer. So we use Pinterest. It helps me understand your vision and its also a fun little activity to do with your partner and helps you get excited for your shoot. You may find this useful if your finding the communication a little more difficult.

Choose Meaningful Outfits : Select outfits that reflect your personal style and comfort levels. Whether it's elegant lingerie, cozy sweaters, matching t-shirts, opt for pieces that make you feel confident and beautiful. Does your partner have a favourite outfit of yours?

Go sentimental with props: Think about props that reflect you as a couple, are you both comic fans? Do you love to rock concerts together? Do you have a weekly coffee date? Did you meet at a bar? Think about Props that bring a smile to your faces. I had a couple who regularly said to each 'Your one in a melon' well we made sure we incorporated a Melon into their shoot as a funny little nod to this saying that they still found funny after 20 years.
Embrace Vulnerability : Allow yourself to be vulnerable during the shoot. Trust in the process, let go of inhibitions, and immerse yourself in the moment with your partner.

Focus on Connection : Instead of worrying about poses or expressions, focus on connecting with your partner. Engage in genuine interactions, share laughter, and let your love shine through.. I will prompt you through this so don't worry. It's a lot less daunting and awkward than you might expect.

It's Your Shoot

Remember this is your shoot and it can be anything you want it to be. It doesn't need to be overtly sexual just because it's Boudoir. If you want to do your whole shoot in your best outfits let do it! If you want your shoot to be about fun and silliness, then great lets do it! There is no cookie cutter for this type of shoot and it is completely bespoke to you and your relationship.
