Style Guide: What to Bring to My Boudoir Photo Shoot?
Boudoir photo-shoots are a wonderful way to celebrate your confidence and beauty. Whether it's for yourself or a significant other, choosing the right outfit and props is essential to achieving stunning and empowering images. If you're wondering What to bring for a Boudoir Photo Shoot, i've got you covered with this comprehensive style guide that will help you feel comfortable and look fabulous in front of the camera.
Safe and Comfortables
Often the first 5/10 minutes of your Photo-shoot your nerves are still lingering. So i always suggest starting your shoot in your safe and comfortables! By this i mean 'outfits' that mean you are more covered up and give you the opportunity of a few more minutes to relax and ease into your shoot before we switch it up and start peeling off those layers.
These photos are also the 'Mum' friendly pics and usually the ones that end up becoming your new Facebook profile picture.
Popular choices for this stage are usually the following.
Jumper
Favorite Dress
Robe/Gown
Lingerie Selection
When it comes to boudoir photos, lingerie is the go-to choice! However when selecting your Lingerie consider your own personal style, not what you think you Should wear. For example if you are Goth Chick then don't bring pretty pink lace sets, and if you want to want your stockings to be ripped then go right ahead and DO YOU!
All i ask is that your selection make you feel sexy and confident.
Here are some lingerie options to give you some ideas of where to start:
Bra and Knicker Set: Are a super popular option, as the range of different styles for this is huge and there is something for everybody. It may be a more sporty set, sensuous lace or satin or the slightly more risque mesh or PVC. Whatever speaks to you!
Suspender Belt: A great accompaniment to the lingerie set and something i would advise if you are slightly more conscious about your tummy area.
Bodysuits : Bodysuits are a versatile option that can complement a variety of body types. They offer coverage while still showcasing your figure, and usually come in a range of gorgeous materials.
Corsets : Corsets are perfect for creating a classic, hourglass silhouette. Again perfect for the slightly more tummy conscious, but a fantastic all rounder. Pair them with matching underwear for a timeless and alluring look.
Chemise/Babydoll: Super cute option, looks great on everyone. Especially good for those Ladies feeling a little more nervous
Must have Basics
Whatever outfits you decide to bring, i would say always bring everything single one of the following as they elevate every Look!
Jewellery : Incorporate your favorite bits of Jewellery; necklaces, earrings, or bracelets to add a touch of glamour to your ensemble.
Stockings : Do bring a couple of pairs of stockings, they look great on camera and are super flattering for your legs.
High Heels : Who doesn't love a gorgeous pair of heels? Bring a minimum of one pair! A pair of high heels can elongate your legs and enhance your overall posture, creating a more flattering silhouette and finish off your overall Look.
Props/ Accessories
Adding accessories/ props to your outfit can elevate your boudoir photo-shoot and make them more personalized.
Have fun with this part! Here are some ideas to consider:
Hats
Gloves
Masks
Naughty Props e.g. Handcuffs, Whips etc:
Scarfs
Bunny/ Cat Ears
Vintage Finds
Props and Accessories with Personality!
This is the single most important part of your shoot! Gorgeous lingerie is great but i want to see your personality. This photo experience is about celebrating you and i want to make sure your shoot is individual to you.
So think about what makes you, you! Are you a coffee addict? Prosecco queen? Comic book geek? Book Worm? Spiritual girly? Tom boy? It is super important we incorporate these little quirks into your shoot.
Don't worry that your Hobby or interests aren't 'Sexy' there is nothing wrong if 1 or 2 photos from your whole shoot is just about the fun and silliness of it all. Let me worry about how to incorporate them into your photographs. I can guarantee these ones will usually be among your favorites.
A few of my favorite ideas from previous shoots not pictured below:
Knitting Needles
Violin
Headphones
Playstation
Tarot Cards
Golf Clubs
Flour and mixing bowl (Baking enthusiast)
Watermelon (Private Joke)
Airsoft Gun
Army helmet
Flowers (Sentimental meaning)
Veil, various Wedding accessories
Pikachu Onesie
Props for Someone Else
If your initital motivation for the shoot was a gift for someone else, that's lovely and it makes for a great gift.
However for me personally; and in the nicest way possible that gift recipient is put to the back of my mind fairly quickly. For me the shoot itself is about you; and in my experience if you are feeling incredible in yourself and your body following the shoot and if you are loving your photos i can guarantee they will too. That being said of course we want to incorporate a couple of special pics just for them. So below are a few ideas of what you can bring:
An item of their clothing; usually a Shirt
Ties/ Accessories
Sports team shirt
Their favorite band tee
A gift they have given you
Something that reflects an inside joke (I was had a couple who called each other Watermelon, so we made sure that was featured)
Something that reflects what you both enjoy doing together - Both Comic geeks? Or love a Coffee Date every Sunday? Lets do it!
Basically Anything you Damn well please!
Let this be the biggest takeaway from this Post; There are no rules! Bring whatever you damn well please!
Make your shoot about you. Got an idea? Run with it! Got an Outfit you Love, Bring it! Got a Hobby that makes you Happy? Yes i want it photograph it!
Remember, this experience is all about celebrating your beauty, confidence, and uniqueness. So, strike a pose, have a blast, and let your stunning personality shine through every frame! 💃
Cheers to capturing YOU in the most sensational way possible!
